Budapest Metro - Subways, 1999, part 1


a collection of photographs over the Metro - Subways in Budapest from April 1999. Run by Budapesti Közlekedési Rt, BKV, the tramways, Metro system, trolleybuses, buses and BHÉV LRT-system.
First line in Budapest in 1896, named Millenium Underground Railway ( Milleneumi Földalatti Vasút ), as it was opened the year of the millenium celebrations of the Hungarian State. It was the second Electric Underground Railway in the world.
The East - West line, route 2, opened partly in 1970. The South - North line, route 3, opened later.
On route 2 and 3, there are modified Sowiet Metro Cars. Normal gauge (1435 mm). Approx 400 cars.
