Stockholms Tramways, route 12,
a picture gallery

This is a collection of photographs of tram route 12, a suburb tramway in the western suburbs of Stockholm. This route have bidirectionary trams. At Alvik, the terminal station, the trams stops at a platform, which also is a station for the subwaytrains. This route is still in traffic with tram cars from the early forties, but rebuilt in the eighties.

tramway

Two car train at Alleparken, 1994, where the trams converts from left-hand traffic to right-hand traffic, trough a crossingover tracks, which also is in the middle of a road-crossing. This train is driving toward the camera. One could even see on the electric wires, the xing.

This makes things more difficult for cardivers, the best is to stop and wait until the train has left. Sweden had until sept -67, left-hand traffic, but since the 3rd of sept -67, we have right-hand traffic. BUT the subway system in Stockholm ( even the new-built system ), the trains and LRT still have l-h traffic, the signal-system is of course the most expensive to rebuilt.

Here is the same place as above, the train is driving from the camera. This photo is from May 1969, shows also the difference between this old class A24 and the rebuilt cars named A30, ( 34 K ).
